Dr. Joe Kunick and Dr. Adam Markham are the owners of not only Today’s Dentistry (family practice) but also Today’s Dentistry’s Dental Assisting School. Both doctors are graduates of the Marquette University School of Dentistry.
What’s a typical Saturday class like? We meet for 8 hours every Saturday. Morning lectures are followed by afternoons of practical, hands-on dental assisting training in clinic setting. You’ll learn how to work with all the instruments, equipment, and materials commonly used by dental assistants in most practices. Today’s Dentistry’s Dental Assisting School graduates also benefit from a strong knowledge base that is strengthened by home study each week.

|Day 1||General introduction to terminology and equipment. Introduction to Treatment room equipment, Asepsis (Chapter 1)|
|Day 2||Four-handed dentistry, instrument transfer, isolation techniques, suctioning(HVE), local anesthesia, patient positioning, hand-piece maintenance, Sterilization (Chapter 2)|
|Day 3||Radiology theory and practice of intraoral & extra oral x-ray techniques, x-ray safety and darkroom procedures. (Chapter 3)|
|Day 4||Amalgam & composite materials – instruments, mixing, curing, tubs & trays. (Chapter 4)|
|Day 5||XRAY QUIZ – Cements and liners, alginate impressions (upper arch), model pouring and trimming (Chapter 5)|
|Day 6||MID-TERM EXAM – Oral surgery & periodontal instruments and materials, alginate impressions (lower arch). (Chapter 6)|
|Day 7||Crown & Bridge instruments and materials, making temporary restorations, bite registration and wax bites. (Chapter 7)|
|Day 8||Endodontic materials and instruments, Endodontic x-rays, Job Interview techniques. (Chapter 8)|
